The charitable organizations I’m involved with are in similar in that they use the game of golf to help shape the lives of children. The game of golf provides much more then an athletic skill to kids. The life skills such as honesty, patience, and drive (on and off the course) are things the game of golf prides itself on. Each of these organizations targets different kids in their own unique way. At the end of the day the hope is each child walk away with an experience that has not only helped them but will encourage them to pass it along to others.
 Get A Grip Foundation http://www.getagripfoundation.org/main/index.html
Get a Grip not only provides free golf instruction for children but offers them a safe haven. The facility that is currently under construction will offer a fabulous learning center where children will be able to get help with the school work. The program requires the children not only to practice their golf but also excel in their school work.
Get a Grip also provides an opportunity to children in Juvenile detention center to learn life skills through the game of golf by offering a chance to play and practice golf once a week.
 USGA/LPGA Junior Girls Golf http://www.juniorlinks.com/index.cfm
I enjoy the junior girls golf program because I think my experience with golf directly relates to them. This program provides an environment where girls can share in the learning of golf with other girls. When I was growing up there was no such thing as a girls golf program. I love speaking with the girls and encouraging them to study hard and practice hard because with the game of golf and a good education there are no limits to what they can do. The program provides weekly practice sessions and a season of tournaments for all ages and abilities. This program is incredible for raising self-esteem.

Golf Fore Africa http://www.worldvision.org/donate.nsf/child/golf_for_africa?OpenDocument& campaign=1243068&cmp=AFC-1243068
Through World Vision Golf Fore Africa is providing a ray of sunshine to many children that have greatly suffered in Rwanda. There are many fund raising efforts being put forth by many members of the LPGA. Betsy Kind is in the fore front of this mission to provide the experience of golf and education to many children.
