About Jill Mcgill | | |  | | | What does one call a touring pro who embodies the qualities that most successful golf professionals possess, such as discipline, intelligence and competitiveness, and yet, seems nothing like her colleagues? A pro who seems equally comfortable at the top of a black diamond ski run as she is on the tee of an LPGA major championship. One who might be seen on the pages of a major golf magazine wearing the latest golf fashions and also be seen wearing nothing but a wetsuit while she is catching a wave amidst the surf of Southern California?
To us, that’s an easy question – WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF JILL MCGILL.
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, the outdoor lifestyle was engrained early in Jill’s life. She skiied in winter and played golf in summer and it all came rather naturally to her. So naturally that she quickly began enjoying both at the highest levels. In golf, however, Jill achieved what only a handful of people had ever done – she won both the US Women’s Amateur Championship as well as the US Women’s Public Links Championship – the two most prestigious amateur titles in all of golf.
When colleges called, Jill couldn’t resist the lure of the west coast and accepted a scholarship at the University of Southern California where she was a two-time All-American and helped the team to a 4th place finish at the NCAA Championships in 1994.
Jill turned pro in 1994 and got her LPGA tour card in 1996. She has earned roughly $2 million over her career – on the course. Off the course, Jill has been one of the LPGA’s most sought after endorsers of products. She currently endorses Sunice apparel, Callaway Golf, and Xyzal. Jill has also been an on-course commentator for the Golf Channel, ABC, TNT, and ESPN.
So, what’s the best way to describe Jill McGill?
How about, GOLF’S FREE SPIRIT. An elite golfer, who is serious about her job but refuses to be defined by it. One who recognizes that life & golf have much to offer and she’s going to live it to the fullest!
